GATHERING OF THE PEOPLE

Announcements

THE PRELUDE Mr. Reed

*CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 99:4-5 / CEV

Leader: You are our mighty King, a lover of fairness, who sees that justice is done everywhere in Israel.

People: Our Lord and our God, we praise you and kneel down to worship you, the God of holiness.

*HYMN OF PRAISE “For the Beauty of the Earth”

For the beauty of the earth,

for the glory of the skies,

for the love which from our birth

over and around us lies,

Lord of all, to thee we raise

\this our hymn of grateful praise.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) and SILENT CONFESSION

‘Rock of Ages, cleft for me’ we sing. How comforting are the words of the songs of the faithful. Yet we have tried to run away from this close relationship and encounter with the Holy. It is uncomfortable to be watched so closely. It is unsettling to be known so intimately. It is unnerving to have our intentions revealed. So we have tried to escape and we have failed. Forgive us our sin. Be our Rock and our Security. We pray in the name of our Redeemer God. Amen

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: Hear the Good News! Brothers and sisters, who are beloved of God, receive the divine gifts of grace and peace. Friends, believe the Good News! People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

SERMON “Created For” Rev. Broc Radak – Read by Carol Barry

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostle’s Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
